Strategic offensive weapons
Some Bears and Backfires flew here and there, nothing too fancy. Launched some strikes against targets in Ukraine as well.
B-1Bs are leaving Ellsworth, and guess who have everything one needs to know about the B-21-related upgrades there? STRATDELA, of course, Special #11.
There seem to be some people in the US who really want to bring the bomber alert back, will watch this space.
B-2s flew to Australia, delivered some nice photos
Some Burevestnik unlimited range nuclear-powerd cruise missile deployment news, it might actually be land-based. Looking forward to seeing something official from the Russian side.
British Vanguard SSBN came back from patrol - and a long one.
#Hyperhype
More exercises, more footage and probably more electronic launches for the LRHW Dark Eagle. No actual launches though.
Missile Defense
US Theater Missile Defense should be dispersed together with bases, which is clear, but rather complicated to achieve. Anyway, Agile Combat Deployment is a very interesting and important area to follow.
L3Harris wants everyone to know about their latest achievements in Missile Defense (incl. against hypersonic threats), but take note that this is sponsored content.
Military Space
NGA is looking (and paying) for options to enhance machine learning/AI capabilities of satellite Earth images. This is a very important field, and I personally have continuously argued that such AI use is the most important in terms of strategic stability.
Military Industry
Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics clearly have something to offer jointly in the solid fuel rocket motor market. This is a very important field, and I will follow and cover it more from now on.
In the meantime, export controls are going down, between AUKUS allies for now, but the trend is clear.
Arms control, diplomacy and signalling
Final Report of the Group of Governmental Experts on further practical measures for the prevention of an arms race in outer space is published.
More signalling on future updates on Russian nuclear doctrine happened over the last month, not details yet.
Further reading (and watching)
That new overhyped long-read based on some slides (not presented) about hypothetical scenarios of Russian NSNW use.
Epic walkthrough of the US National Museum of Nuclear Science and History
Great coverage on Ghost Shark USV (probably I need to make a separate EDT-related section…)
Awesome paper on disarmament and arms control by Alexey Arbatov.
Assorted comments on the 15th International Day against Nuclear Tests.
Fantastic article on the INF Treaty and Post-INF dynamics by Alexander Checkov (in Russian).
Quality reporting on future changes in the Russian nuclear doctrine and expert comments. (in Russian)
Epic report on identification of nuclear-capable B-52H bombers.
Music
Some crazy modern Russian music for a change:
End Notes
Tu-121 UCAV is kind of essential Atompunk
See you all soon!
