What we know

Long Range Hypersonic Weapons is a project led by the US Army with an aim to develop and field an intermediate range ground-launched missile with a hypersonic glide vehicle as its payload.

Of course, everyone can read a traditional CRS explainer, which is quite a good product (https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF11991), but I've tried to dig a bit deeper.
